Guide for Top Classes:

  1. Please check this page for the results  from Aug 8-10 (National Day holiday).

  2. Please prepare a 3 min (max) sharing of your diorama / performance of their masquerade. You may prepare a set of slides and pictures of your solution. 

  3. Please send at least 5 students for the rehearsals in the hall: 2 speakers to present on their solution, 3 (max 5) students to showcase your product/drama.

  4. Please send one representative to the flag poles at the Quadrangle to collect your class' prize on Friday, 18th August 2023.

LEVEL-WIDE CHALLENGE

Challenge Statement:
Will Artificial Intelligence eventually dominate humankind?

Task:

Each class will explore innovative solutions and create a final product in response to the Challenge Statement.

Deliverable:

Students will present their stand on the issue in a creative and imaginative manner with either a diorama or a masquerade performance.

Students will have to submit:

1. a video (at least 1 min 30 sec) of their masquerade or an explanation of their diorama.

2.  a write-up (at least 100 words) of what their masquerade or diorama is about.

Top classes will be given the chance to present their masquerades and dioramas during STREAMnovation Week!

Diorama

Students will create a structure to demonstrate the functions of their solution, utilising micro:bit or M5Go components.

Masquerade

Students will perform their solution concept through innovative means, utilising handmade props.

A Mystery Item will be revealed in Term 3 Week 5!

To test the limits of your creativity, Innovation leaders will collect a Mystery Item from the Streamnovation teachers in T3W5. Bonus points will be awarded to classes that are able to incorporate the item well into their diorama/masquerade.

TIMELINE

MATERIALS PROVIDED

Term 3 Week 1

Innovation leaders to collect the Level Wide Challenge materials. Students to get into groups and plan the design of their diorama / masquerade.

Term 3 Week 1 - Week 6

Start constructing diorama or filming the masquerade

Term 3 Week 7

7 August, Monday:

All classes to submit video recording and written description of diorama and masquerade by 3pm.

Rehearsal for top classes on 11 August (Friday) and

14 August (Monday) at the school hall.

 

Term 3 Week 8

15 August, Tuesday:

Assembly Period: Showcase & Performance in the hall.

Term 3 Week 8

18 August, Friday:

Presentation of prizes at the school quadrangle.

  • Corrugated cardboard

  • UHU Glue

  • Masking Tape

  • A4 box 210mm X 297mm ( L X W )

  • Micro:bit kit x1 (*only sec 3 classes)

*Sec 1 & 2 classes please use micro:bit or M5Go kits that have been distributed for FLP

Apart from materials provided, you are encouraged to use RECYCLED materials to construct your performance or structure.
